The Ohio-Iota chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was able to make it into Chicago with over 20 of their members on February 8th, 2019. Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA) is filled with a surplus of leadership building exercises, networking events and more. CLA is one of our main leadership continuums and its purpose is to prepare us for our endeavors within the chapter and also teach us long-lasting skills that we can carry into our future professions.
Ohio-Iota arrived around 5:00 on Friday night and made it just in time for our first leadership event. This event gave us three different routes we could learn about. These three routes consisted of success with substance-free facilities, Residential Learning Communities and making data-driven decisions with the brotherhood questionnaire. Following these events, our members were given the opportunity to engage in their respective positions to better ourselves and to create goals for what we want to accomplish this next year. The executive board rocketed into their respective leadership tracks while other members were given the opportunity to learn more about recruitment skills and Sigma Phi Epsilons “Balanced Man Program”. Over 750 members of Sigma Phi Epsilon, spanning across the entire Midwest, met here in Chicago to come together for a weekend of growth and development.
Sigma Phi Epsilon exists to help its members ignite a passion within themselves. We were honored to accept the Talent Power Award gifted from our National Headquarters. This award was given to our chapter in recognition of our success within our recruitment these past several months. In the Fall semester of 2018, we were able to accept 43 undergraduates into our chapter. This is extremely exciting as we are able to give these undergraduates the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and acclimate to college life with a support system of 130+ brothers. Our brothers will be returning home on February 10th, 2019 and will be back on time for classes Monday morning!
